IT Manager

An opportunity has arisen to join our prestigious Company based in leafy Didsbury. We provide UK qualifications and certification to students from entry level through to degree and Master’s in over 46 countries across the world. The successful IT Manager will earn between £36,000 – £40,000 depending on experience.

As a member of the Management Team you will manage and develop the provision of the IT function (Infrastructure and Applications) for all global offices as well as holding departmental responsibility for websites, e-content and corporate documents. You will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation uses best fit and cost-effective IT services to meet its objectives.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the IT Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overall responsibility for the strategy, development and day-to-day management of Project Support and IT. Including CIT, telephone, business systems, materials formatting, websites including content, and e-learning technologies
  • Maintain appropriate change control processes
  • Manage internal development and supplier development using software development lifecycle processes
  • Maintain and develop the local and global telephone systems
  • Maintain and develop the business continuity and disaster recovery plans for the organisation
  • Ensure appropriate backup processes and procedures are followed
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of significant IT developments in Awarding Industry Education via FAB, IT and other Higher Education focussed technology events
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on developments in the wider field of CIT and their potential for the organisation
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of an asset register for IT related equipment
  • Responsible for the planning and management of the budgets associated with the IT department, including monthly agreement of expenditure and annual provision of accurate forecasts
  • Ensure that confidentiality is up-held and appropriate security protocols and roles are in place to manage company information and intellectual property. Ensure management are aware of all confidentiality issues related to candidate and assessment data

  • Anti-virus and securtiy
  • Exchange 2010
  • Fortigate firewalls / VPN tunnels
  • Systems development
  • Familiarity with responsive website design and programming including .NET, HTML5, css and javascript
  • Databases – Access, MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL
  • Backup and restore procedures
  • Educational technology and e-learning
