An opportunity is available for a Product Development Executive to join a global provider and awarding body of education in Britain. Based at its Head Office in Didsbury, Manchester, the successful Product Development Executive will earn between £16,000 - £18,000, depending on experience.

As a Product Development Executive you will support the work of managers in the development, maintenance and delivery of qualifications and programmes. This involves working to ensure standards and continue to improve qualification syllabuses, articles of assessment as well as teaching and learning material. For example the Product Development Executive will be required to commission and oversee academic scrutiny for a number of assessment papers and marking schemes related to a particular qualification or set of modules, ensuring new assessment artefacts are ready for candidates’ use at multiple times throughout the year.

Main Duties

Reporting to the Product Manager, the successful Product Development Executive’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Recruitment, training and support of contractors/developers
  • Commissioning and review of assessment papers and marking schemes
  • Assisting with conducting performance reviews of examiners, moderators, markers
  • Documenting Learning Outcomes, Assessment Criteria and Grade Descriptors
  • Reviewing reports produced by plagiarism detection systems and providing guidance to markers, moderators and Head of Quality Assurance as necessary
  • Providing data/statistics for product KPIs
  • Providing data/statistics for Product Manager reports to divisional management team
  • Assisting with preparation for academic boards; minute taking, servicing/departmental attendance as necessary
  • Assisting with product trials/pilots and preparing product briefings (including INSET training) for internal and external customers
  • Maintaining teaching and learning materials in accordance with the product maintenance schedule

This role requires the ability to utilise strong academic and communication skills such as proof reading, document formatting and referencing; presenting data and dealing with external academic contractors. Good academic judgement and the ability to work on several short and longer term projects at the same time are key to being successful in this role, as is the desire to understand and learn more about the end to end processes and wider business activity involved in registering candidates, teaching preparation/delivery through to assessment and certification. You will possess the following skills and experience:

  • A degree
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office
  • Organised with strong time-management skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills involving the ability to interpret, compile and confidently present statistical information
  • Adaptable, assertive, honest and respectful
  • Decisive and able to take responsibility for agreed outcomes
  • Ability to critically evaluate systems and processes to find efficient ways of operating
  • Possess a good level of internal and external customer focus with the ability to develop relationships
  • Capable of delivering results
  • Some understanding of assessment theory and different methods of assessment
  • Experience in the development of qualifications and assessments
  • Knowledge of UK Higher Education
  • Willing to Travel
