This page is dedicated to answering frequently asked questions or queries about studying an NCC Education qualification.

If you are an existing student please contact your NCC Education centre. If you are not an existing student and you cannot find the answer to your question below (or simply want more information) just send an email along to our Customer Service Team ( and we will do our best to provide you with all the information you need.

>1. Getting started! (Enrolment and study)

What is an NCC Education centre and can I study directly at NCC Education?

An NCC Education centre is a college, school or university that has signed up to offer and teach and assess our qualifications. All centres undergo strict approval procedures and must meet all of our high standards before we allow them to offer our qualifications. NCC Education works very closely with our centres and we have built trusted working relationships that have been developed over many years (some of our centres have been with us for more than 20 years).

NCC Education is an awarding body not a teaching site. We are based in Manchester (UK) with three regional offices. All students wishing to study for our qualifications will sign up to study at one of our centres, where specially trained and approved staff are appointed to administer and teach the qualifications set by NCC Education.

What are the Entry Requirements?

The entry requirements vary depending on the qualification you are interested in can be found under the relevant section of the ‘Our Qualifications’ area of the website. If you are uncertain, or your qualification is not listed please contact the NCC Education centre you are interested in joining for more information and advice.

How can I apply for exemptions on NCC Education qualifications?

Your centre will need to supply this request in writing with copies of all details of your previous qualifications, such as syllabi and any certificates issued. In some cases we may already be aware of instances where exemptions can be given, and in these cases the process should be very short and simple.

All exemption requests must be made prior to you sitting your first assessment and a full breakdown of the exemption process and common exemptions can be found here.

All exemption requests must be processed through your NCC Education centre.

How long does will it take me to complete my qualification?

This can vary; the majority of students take one year to complete most of our qualifications (based on full-time learning). Students aiming to achieve a degree, for example, will typically (depending on their existing qualifications) begin their education at Level 4 (Diploma Level) and then spend three years studying for their degree qualification. At the end of this journey you will then be awarded your degree directly from the awarding UK University that validates your course.

Students may also study part time, which enables our students to be employed whilst they study. Please contact your NCC Education centre to discuss the options available to you. They will have more detailed information on how the course is run including timetables and time scales etc.

One of the key benefits of studying an NCC Education qualification is that we will award our students with an individual and recognised qualification at the end of each year (our Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas, for example). This is unlike students who study directly at a UK university who typically must complete the full three years before they can achieve a qualification.

The benefit of this is that our students can choose to enter into employment at any stage using their qualifications gained at NCC Education and can then choose to return at a later date to continue with their education.

When can I start studying for my qualification?

Following registration with your NCC Education centre you will be advised on start dates for your qualification by your centre.

>3. Universities and studying overseas.

How to apply to study directly at a UK University?

If you currently hold an NCC Education qualification and wish to study at a UK university please contact the University you wish to apply to confirm their Admissions policy.

Can I transfer to a different NCC Education centre in another country to complete my studies?

Yes you can. Many of our students find that this is great way to travel and see the world whilst they learn. To do this, you must contact the centre you wish to join for more information. They will then contact NCC Education on your behalf and all of your results will be carried over to your new centre. We have more than 200 centres worldwide so there are lots of choices available.

I am NCC Education graduate and I am interested in completing my studies directly at a university is this possible?

Absolutely, we have university progression routes in place with institutions from all over the world. Many of our students have studied with NCC Education and then progressed onto universities from as far afield as the US, the UK and Australia (click here to see a list of just a few of these universities. This means that our students can complete their first few years with NCC Education and then progress directly onto the university of their choice to complete their final year and be awarded with a degree directly from that university.

Remember, universities have different admission policies and entry criteria so it is important to contact them directly for more information on how to apply.

Will I need a visa in order to study in another country?

Yes you will. All students must have the relevant permits and approval to study in another country; it is the responsibility of the student to arrange their visas/permits. You will need to contact the relevant government department for the country in which you wish to study for more information about applying for the necessary documentation.

>4. Past Papers

Do you provide copies of past papers?

Yes, past papers can be obtained from your NCC Education centre.

>5. Assessments and Results

What happens if I miss an exam?

If you miss an exam through no fault of your own (for example, you are ill) and the absence can be verified by evidence (a doctor’s note, for example), then you should inform your NCC Education centre as soon as possible. Normally, NCC Education will then allow you to take the missing exam as a ‘deferred’ exam.

However, if you miss an exam through avoidable circumstances (for example, forgetting to set your alarm clock, or if you simply choose not to attend). You will need to retake the exam as a referred exam and the result will be capped at a maximum of a Pass grade.

What is the pass rate for assessments?

Assessments are awarded at four grades: Fail, Pass, Merit and Distinction.

When will my results be released?

NCC Education releases assessments results as per the advertised deadlines which are available at your NCC Education Centre. All results will be sent directly to your NCC Education centre for distribution.

Where can I find out my exam results?

Your exam results will be sent directly to your NCC Education centre to issue to you.

Where can I find out more about assessment methods?

Your NCC Education centre will provide you with all the information relating to examinations and assessments. If you have a query, please contact your centre directly and they will be able to offer help and guidance.

What happens if I fail one of my modules?

The important thing is not to panic. NCC Education provides all of our students the opportunity to re-sit their assessments. The rules and procedures do vary depending on which qualification you are studying, so the important thing to do is speak to your centre for more guidance on what your options are.

Sometimes students will only fail in a particular assessment (an exam or an assignment, for example) and if this is the case it may not be necessary for you to re-sit all the assessments for that particular module in order to pass. When this happens, your NCC Education centre will give you feedback to show which assessment you will need to re-sit.

All students are issued with an NCC Education results transcript that will show you all of the modules and assessments you have attempted and the grades you have achieved. These result slips are distributed through your centre and if you are unsure of what assessments you need to re-sit please speak to your centre and they will be able to help you.

Can I appeal about my results?

Yes, if you want to make an appeal please contact your NCC Education centre directly.  There is a four week period for you to appeal after receipt of your results; your centre will inform you of the process and of the payment required.

How are the qualifications taught and assessed?

All our qualifications are taught in English through either part-time or full-time study and consist of teaching semesters plus revision time in preparation for the formal NCC Education assessments. Your centre will provide you with a combination of lectures, tutorials, practical workshops and revision sessions throughout the course of study. You can progress all the way through our qualifications from entry level through to degree and Master’s qualifications.

You will be assessed, in English, through a combination of coursework, exams and practical projects depending on the qualification you are studying.

Our qualifications are designed with flexibility in mind, this means you can progress up to the level you wish and are awarded a qualification at the end of every level. This means you can choose to enter into employment at any stage using your qualifications gained at NCC Education and even choose to return later on to continue with your education.

When are the assessments held?

NCC Education typically holds four assessment cycles throughout the year; March, June, September and December. The assessment cycles you are enrolled in will vary depending on which qualification you are studying, which centre you are studying at and when you enrolled upon the course.

For a breakdown of all your upcoming examinations and assessment cycles please contact your NCC Education centre.

How do I register to re-sit an assessment?

Please contact your centre directly, as this request and your payment must come directly from the centre and not individual students.

Your centre will let you know the dates and times of your re-sits.

>6. Certificates and Transcripts

When will I receive my certificate?

Certificates will be dispatched directly by NCC Education after the release of examination results and once your centre have confirmed all of your details. If you have not received your certificates after this time, please contact your NCC Education centre.
