The English Language Framework (ELF) is a course aimed at helping students to improve language skills. The qualification is comprised of five levels and a student can move through the levels according to needs and abilities:
- Level 1: Elementary
- Level 2: Pre-Intermediate
- Level 3: Intermediate
- Level 4: Upper-Intermediate
- Level 5: Advanced
- Optional Module: Introduction to IELTS – prepares a student for assessment by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). This unit does not carry any credits towards the IELTS qualification and is not assessed by NCC Education.
The entry requirements for the ELF qualification differ, depending upon the level a student wishes to begin studying. Current English language level can be assessed through the free NCC Education English Placement Test, which is administered by our Accredited Partner Centres. If a student holds an existing English Language qualification a local Accredited Partner centre will advise on whether a student can gain direct entry onto the relevant level of the qualification.
Each level gives the opportunity to investigate and understand the workings of the English language and to develop the ability to communicate orally and in writing in areas of direct relevance to current and future opportunities, both as a student and as an employee.
Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are covered in each level, along with a focus on vocabulary acquisition and grammar. Learning is be very interactive and includes activities such as role-plays, presentations, summaries, discussions and group work, along with appropriate private study time. The qualification is structured to increase student confidence, linguistic accuracy and competence.
Assessment for all levels is offered four times per year (January, April, June and September).
NCC Education provides examinations for all levels which cover:
- Language in Use
At Level 5, a student can also elect to submit a valid IELTS score for certification instead of taking the NCC Education examination. This might be particularly helpful if a student is planning to study further in the UK or overseas after the qualification.
All students passing the examinations for each level will be awarded with an NCC Education certificate. A final mark of at least 40% is required to pass each Level.
The English Language Framework (ELF) is a qualification aimed at helping to improve language skills. Once a student has completed the Level 5, they may decide to complete the free IELTS preparation unit. If they then secure your IELTS they can chose to study at a UK or Overseas University, or may decide to embark on the NCC Education UK Degree Journey.
