The NCC Education Digi Curriculum Grades 1–2 is the opening stage of our computing pathway for young learners.

Designed for children aged 5–7, it builds an age-appropriate foundation in computing, digital literacy, online safety and introductory programming.

  • Digital skills support learning, communication, creativity and participation in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Digi Curriculum Grades 1–2 helps learners develop confidence using technology while building the knowledge and judgement needed to use digital tools safely, responsibly and effectively.

Designed for practical classroom delivery, the programme combines teacher-led instruction with hands-on computer activities, programming tasks, digital creation and problem-solving.

  • Digi Curriculum Grades 1–2 is suitable for learners aged 5–7 years old, corresponding to Key Stage 1 in the English national curriculum. It may also be suitable for older learners who are beginning their digital learning journey.

Learners who are not native English speakers should be able to meet the English-language demands of preparing for and completing the Digi Curriculum Grade 2 assessment.

  • Students will develop skills in:

    • Basic digital literacy and using computers confidently
    • Safe and responsible use of technology and online environments
    • Simple algorithms and introductory programming using age-appropriate commands
    • Creating and editing digital content, including presentations and animations
    • Using the internet for research and beginning to recognise trustworthy sources
    • Digital citizenship and awareness of digital footprints
    • Keyboard and mouse skills
    • Digital safety and responsible technology use are embedded throughout the curriculum.
    • Learners progressively develop awareness of online behaviour, privacy, security and how to respond appropriately to concerns.
  • Learners receive recognition as they progress through the Digi Curriculum.

After completing Grades 1 and 2, students may be entered for a formal assessment leading to qualification certification.

NCC Education’s Digi assessment and certification gives learners the opportunity to gain an internationally available computing qualification and a global benchmark for their computing skills and knowledge.

  • After completing Digi Curriculum Grades 1–2, learners can progress to  Digi Curriculum Grades 3–6, the upper-primary stage of the NCC Education Digi pathway.

  • The NCC Education Digi Curriculum gives schools a structured pathway for progressively developing digital literacy, computing and programming skills across Grades 1–9.

It can support both a dedicated computing programme and the wider use of digital skills across the curriculum.
