Building on the digital foundations developed in earlier grades, learners explore more advanced areas of computing, including algorithms, Boolean logic, computational thinking, data, digital safety and security, and problem-solving. They also develop their programming skills through Scratch and Python.
The curriculum prepares learners for continued study in computing and supports progression to the NCC Education Level 2 Award in Computing or Level 2 Diploma in Computing.

Digital skills support learning, communication, creativity and participation in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Digi Curriculum Grades 7-9 helps learners become more confident and capable users of technology. Students learn to create and debug programs, find and evaluate information online, produce multimedia content and use a range of digital productivity tools.
Safe, responsible and effective use of technology is embedded throughout the programme. -
Digi Curriculum Grades 7–9 is suitable for learners aged 11–14 years old, corresponding to Key Stage 3 in the English National Curriculum.
It may also be suitable for older learners who need to develop or strengthen these digital and computing skills.
Learners who are not native English speakers should be able to meet the English-language demands of preparing for and completing the Digi Curriculum Grade 9 assessment. -
- Digital safety and security, including responsible and respectful online behaviour
- Understanding, developing, comparing and evaluating algorithms
- Understanding how computer instructions are stored and executed
- Planning, creating, testing and improving computer programs
- Applying programming terminology, data structures, debugging and the correction of errors
- Understanding Boolean logic and binary numbers
- Applying computational problem-solving skills
- Representing and manipulating different data types
- More advanced Scratch and Python programming
-
Learners receive recognition as they progress through the Digi Curriculum.
After completing the Grades 7–9 stage, students may be entered for a formal assessment leading to an NCC Education qualification certificate.
NCC Education’s Digi assessment and certification gives learners the opportunity to gain an internationally available computing qualification and a global benchmark for their computing skills and knowledge.
-
After completing Digi Curriculum Grades 7–9, learners can progress to the NCC Education Level 2 Diploma in Computing and continue their studies within the NCC Education Computing pathway.
-
The NCC Education Digi Curriculum gives schools a structured pathway for progressively developing digital literacy, computing and programming skills across Grades 1–9.
The Grades 7–9 stage develops more advanced computing and programming knowledge while preparing learners for further study within the NCC Education Computing pathway.
The curriculum can support both a dedicated computing programme and the wider application of digital skills across the school curriculum.
