About the University
Located across two campus sites in the city of Joensuu, a central part of Eastern Finland’s innovation ecosystem, Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Karelia UAS) was established in 1992 and today provides world-class higher education to over 4,600 students.
A youthful student city with about one third of its population below the age of 30, Joensuu is a great place to make new friends. For students who love the outdoors, there is an endless number of cycling trails, hikes and walks. Here you can enjoy the closeness to nature: the nearest berry bush is always just around the corner. There are four national parks nearby and ski and nature tracks are all around the city.
For those looking to get active indoors, you can choose from more than 80 weekly sessions varying from instructed classes to ball sports for student groups at affordable prices.
Both campus sites are within a fifteen-minute walking distance from each other. Wärtsilä Campus is home to business, engineering, forestry and tourism-related programmes and Tikkarinne Campus is where health care, social services and media courses are taught.
Student facilities, a library, student’s union, gym and affordable university campus restaurants are all within easy reach.
Accredited by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and a member of the INVEST European University Alliance and Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences Network, students at Karelia University of Applied Sciences work closely with local companies and other educational institutions in exciting research and development projects, under the guidance of trained and experienced professionals.
How to Apply
Upon completing the NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies, Level 3 Diploma in Business, or Level 3 Diploma in Computing students are eligible to apply to selected English-taught undergraduate programmes at Karelia University of Applied Sciences in International Business, Industrial Management and Information and Communication Technology. Level 4 Diploma in Computing and Level 4 Diploma in Computing (with Business Management) students may apply to the 2nd year of Bachelor in Industrial Management, subject to completion of certain 1st year compulsory courses.*
