NCC Education Announce Progression Route to International College of Liberal Arts at Yamanashi Gakuin University

NCC Education are delighted to announce a new progression route to the International College of Liberal Arts at Yamanashi Gakuin University, Japan.

About the University

Founded in 1946, Yamanashi Gakuin University is located in Kōfu, the stunning capital city of Yamanashi Prefecture, just 90 minutes from Tokyo. Set in a large natural basin, the university is surrounded by mountains with Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain, to the south.

Starting with the establishment of the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA), Yamanashi Gakuin University began globalisation of its institution in 2015.

The iCLA building is circular in design with classrooms on the inside and faculty offices on the outside. In addition to traditional classrooms for lectures, the building offers a data science lab, music studio, art studio, study areas, sports dojo, student lounge, cafeteria, rooftop garden and tatami tea ceremony room.

Students can take credit-bearing Japanese language courses as part of the degree, giving them the opportunity to study from complete beginner to advanced business level Japanese. Access to a Language Acquisition Centre is available to all students who can make use of the computers, digital materials for individual language learning and an extensive library of reading material in English and Japanese.

Outside of the iCLA building, there are other on-campus facilities such as the Yamanashi Gakuin library, gym, campus shops, coffee salon and language commons.

A wide variety of student clubs are available to join including photography, animation, skiing and kendo. Students typically join clubs at the start of the academic year in April, but many clubs welcome new members all year round.

Comfortable and affordable on-campus accommodation is shared between both domestic and international students, presenting plentiful opportunities for building global friendships.

Upon completing the NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies, students are welcome to apply to the iCLA Bachelor of International Liberal Arts, which offers six majors in Data Science, Global Business and Economics, Interdisciplinary Arts, Japan Studies, Political Science and Psychology.

Head of Partnerships at NCC Education, Rebecca Bewley, says: “This is an exciting development for NCC Education and a fantastic new progression opportunity for those seeking to continue their studies in Japan”.

We are delighted to start welcoming applications from NCC students. As international students are increasingly looking for more varied study destinations, we hope this partnership with NCC will help to widen awareness of study opportunities in Japan. We look forward to the diversity and academic ability that NCC graduates will bring to our campus!

Rob Turner, Director of International Development & Marketing, iCLA.
