What is a top-up degree and other FAQs – Part 1

Here is part 1 of the most common questions we are asked by prospective students about NCC Education’s top-up degree programmes:

What is a top-up degree?

A top-up degree is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time degree programme equivalent to the final year of an honours degree, allowing you to build on your previous qualifications. NCC Education offer two distance learning top-ups degrees in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

These two top-ups in BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems and BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Networking are delivered online by NCC Education and validated and awarded by UCLan.

What are the entry requirements for a top-up degree?

If you have a relevant Level 4 and 5 qualification, for example the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing and NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing, Pearson Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualifications from ATHE, SQA or OTHM, you can ‘top-up’ to a full honours degree without having to start your degree from the very beginning. Relevant Diplomas of Higher Education (dipHE), Advanced or Higher Diplomas, or Foundation, Associate and Non-honours degrees may also be accepted.

If you are unsure if you have the right qualifications to top-up, please contact your local accredited partner centre https://www.nccedu.com/study-centres/ or apply directly by emailing admissions@nccedu.com.

What are the benefits of choosing this top-up degree?

There are a number of benefits in topping up your current qualification to an honours degree in BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems or BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Networking.

Firstly, it will help you demonstrate to an employer that you have the academic, organisational and management skills required for your chosen career path; around the world many employers require an undergraduate degree for management-level employment and career promotion.

Secondly, with a UK honours degree you can stand out from the crowd; UK universities are world renowned for high-quality higher education.

Thirdly, by choosing our online top-up degree programme, you can continue to work full- or part-time. Whilst some students choose to study full-time, the majority of students on our top-up courses are in work and complete their top-up either full- or part-time depending on their other  commitments.

How much will it cost?

For pricing information please contact your local accredited partner centre https://www.nccedu.com/study-centres/ or apply directly by emailing admissions@nccedu.com.
